I checked in my local Barnes and Noble and what to my surprise, volume 10 of Reborn translated. (Yay for Basil and his awesome old-school Japanese!) Frankly, I don't care if Viz is one of the largest manga publishers in America, and they bring in new titles, I CAN'T STAND THEIR TRANSLATIONS. First of all, they DID change Squalo's classic "VOOOOIIIIIII" into "Hey!!!". Just like with Mukuro's "Kufufufu" awesome laugh. D|
Xanxus didn't have much lines in volume 10, but the lack of swearing is just....*cries in a corner* Who are you and what the fuck did you to my beloved Varia boss?!
And hence I must say to the editors and the people who are so trigger happy when it comes to censorship, "fuck you". Seriously. Do they honestly think we the general public are that stupid or something? Geez, Japan's not as buttsore about violence, language and what not. We could learn a lesson or a thousand from them.
Speaking of Japan, I'm heading back to up to Osaka to continue my study abroad this Sunday. I won't be with my awesome sauce roommate from last semester, Souji, this time though. I'm now gonna be stuck in Seminar House III, which is more like an apartment complex, when the others will be in Seminar House I. WHY???? I love that place to bits because of the small size. I don't do well in large spaces sometimes. I don't panic or anything like that but I'm just more comfortable with smaller spaces.
I was tempted to buy some DVDs from B&N because it was their "Buy two get the third one free". I could've gotten "Resident Evil: Extinction", "The Dark Knight", and maybe "Enchanted", but honestly, can't they lower the prices on DVDs already? I'm still not willing to shell out 30 USD for two disc when I just want to watch the movie. Granted, if I really like the movie, I'll actually watch the extras but still.....
But I bought two books for writing purposes: one for breaking writer's block, and one about character traits. I guess I can admit I wanted to become a renaissance person growing up. But I'm just more inclined to the arts, mostly visual and writing, but I am working on playing shamisen. |D Because really, if my university's creative writing program didn't clash with my Japanese major schedule, I would've taken it.
Xanxus is never going have a break in the RP EVER. Squalo ran across the post when Xanxus had a personality switching bug and how he mentioned how much he missed Squalo and was baking cookies. Let's just say our favorite boss will have to fulfill one of Squalo's insane montly pastry requests. Oh and his new pet liger is pretty much BFFs with Squalo. XD
