Three day weekend ftw

Yeah, this weekend was a nice long one. Friday, Chantelle (aka roommate) and I went with some other friends to get our food stamp papers submitted. (Finally.) Had to wake up at 7 am since the friend driving us wanted to just get there before the office opened.  I'll have to go back Wednesday for this "interview" thing  which isn't like an interview at all. Hopefully, I can get the food stamps then. So after that early morning 'adventure' I ended up going between doing facebook stuff, naps, and some homework.

Saturday was Wordstock in Portland. It's the Northwest's biggest literary convention. Went there for my Writing Fiction class since we need to listen to two writers and write a reaction paper about it. One of the writers I listened to was Scott Westerfeld, author of the Uglies series. He didn't actually read any of his books, but talked about his newest one called Leviathan. Here's the animated trailer for it.

The urge to make AU hetalia characters based on this universe is very tempting. (Seriously, can anyone see this happening?

I just fell in love with this concept. Sure it's young adult fiction, but I'm just drawn into it. There's  50 wonderful full page illustrations that go with it. He explained that all books had illustrations, but because of the camera, illustrators got the short end of the stick. Hence, why novels do not have any illustrations, basically.

Bought a copy of the book and had it signed. He even mentioned that he encourages fanfiction. *__*

Bought some books from this small publishing group called "Chin Music Press". I spent a lot of time talking to them since they do a lot translation projects and focus on subjects concerning Japan.

Then at Portland State, there was a presentation about Japanese dance my Japanese professor wanted our class to see. I was the only one there, but it was very nice.  Didn't get back home until 8:30pm ish. Then played some scattergories, spoons (Actually, make that chopsticks since we used those instead), and catchphrase. Loser in spoons had to drink a shot. I stuck to mostly kahlua milk though. I didn't want to get too drunk that night.

RP wise, Keroro brought an entire flock of Angora rabbits to the S.S. PAst in MM. The crew stayed on an island where if you drink the water, it has a weird effect on the drinker. So when our little stupid frog drank the water, he became a rabbit magnet. XD

In Project Verde, Saori ended up getting cornered by Ivan (as in Russia) and Tsurei during the event. Let's just say things are getting dicey. But Ivan's not leaving until he gets to invade one of the few virgins around there.

And now....time to do some actual school work. OTL
