Weekend in the Countryside

Going to the countryside with Dad to see my grandparents tomorrow. I'm gonna have to wake up early to get to Kyoto  by 8:50am. orz So if you guys see my twittering when people are getting up, please yell at me to get bed.

I am not going to bring my laptop up there. It will be a good time to have a break. There will be photos and I'll write down stuff to post about.
I'll try to check Twitter on my phone, assuming I can get a signal all the way out there. XD

Went to Den Den Town with Runah, since she leaves Monday with Chelsey. Got a copy of Vol. 2 of "Saint Young Men" and one doujinshi. Even with getting my General Deposit back today (about 100USD),  I held back on getting a Nitro + Chiral game. (Though Sweet Pool looks incredibly promising!)

Now I'm just gonna try get to episode 50 of yakipan, and make some playlists since it will take several hours to get to my grandparents' house.

No more school until August!

So today, I managed to finish my paper for my  "Onna to Otoko: Gender and Sexuality in Japan class" and managed to turn it in 5 hours before the deadline. When I went to campus to turn it in, I heard from one of my friends, Wadey, that the rest of the classes (for the Japanese students) and final exams (for us International students). The reason? The neighboring town was reported to have a case of the H1N1 flu. And apparently there entire Osaka prefecture and the neighboring Hyougo prefecture are on alert. Schools are now closed until Saturday.

So I don't have to do my Japanese final. And for once, I was horrified. Our grades will be determined by whatever exams and papers we've turned in. Now here, the problem with that is, the written portion of my Japanese exam was supposed to be tomorrow. It's not like I'm did horrible, but I would've liked my grade boosted up just a little since I think I did a horrible job on my spoken portion. orz

Despite all this, I can't wait to see my grandparents with my Dad this weekend. It's been about 5 years since I saw them. Obaa-chan (grandma)'s health hasn't been great lately. It's a really beautiful place since it's so far in the country. I will definetly have photos when I come back. (I wonder if we might visit that hotsprings inn I went last time.)

And yes, I'm watching several clips of the Eurovision semifinals since I know some people on my flist kept talking about it.

Fridays are made of awesomeness.

So I managed to get my hands on KHR Volume 24 today between classes. Posted up some photos on the KHR community if you haven't seen them yet. I love Amano's colored works and I'm curious about her techniques. I wonder why she hasn't created an artbook yet.

Had only a midterm paper and quiz for Hester's "Onna to Otoko" class, which talks about gender and sexuality in Japan. I barely got it done before class started. But better turnining it in and getting a bad grade than not turning it in at all, right? But argh, I swear I'll never do that again.

I was planning to come straight home after classes, but I tagged along with Runa and Chelsey to Hirakata station-side. (I still laugh when Runa calls Hirakata the New Jersey of Osaka. Then again, her host family's in Kuzuha, home to the Kuzuha Mall and what not, so can't say I blame her though. XD)

Had a good parfait since I hadn't one in ages. While we were at the park near city hall, Runa and I saw two elderly women taking care of some stray cats. Got a chance to even pet them. It's so sad that Japan has a lot of strays when they're really sweet. Had a nice chat with the ladies too.

The Japanese school started around Thursday, so it's going to be crowded at   Gaidai from now. But it'll be nice to see some fresh faces on campus.Got my registration stuff done this week. I might be mentoring a low level Japanese class next semester. Should be interesting, plus it might serve as teaching experience; especially if I want do a program like JET in the future.  Will be taking a drawing class (because you can never learn enough techniques in art), a fiction writing class (my English is failing since I've been up here), and Japanese 485 in the meantime.

Planning to go to Nipponbashi aka Den Den Town, the Osaka equivalent of Akihabara, tomorrow. I'm curious if the K-Books there will have a copy of a particular anthology I discovered while looking at some doujin circle websites. It's been a while since I been there. But don't worry, I don't plan to stay there all day.
